Why Won’t These Spiders Go Away?

Previous Post | Next Post

One of the most common insects in all of America, and particularly in the Arkansas area, are spiders. Most species of spiders are non poisonous and not harmful to people, but there are a few types of spiders that are more dangerous to encounter or be bitten by. Both the brown recluse spider and black widow spider are considered to be dangerous if they bite, and both are found right here in Arkansas. And even those that are not poisonous, such as the American house spider (the most common species), still weave nasty webs that you can run into, and can make your house look dirty.

Below are a few simple tips from your friends at McCauley Services in Arkansas that you can take to keep spiders from coming into your house:

  • Make sure window screens and door sweeps are tight and there are no holes in them.

  • Make sure firewood, garbage cans, and other yard debris are kept away from the side of your house

  • Keep shrubs, bushes, and trees trimmed well away from the side of your home.

  • Make sure storage closets, attics, corners of rooms, and other low traffic areas are regularly vacuumed and free of clutter.

  • Keep basements and other damp areas as dry as possible and well ventilated.

  • When you find a spider web, make sure there is not an egg sack as well. Even if you get the web and spider, the eggs may still hatch.

Despite this friendly advice, don’t underestimate the sneakiness of spiders! It is still very easy for them to make their way into your house. With their reclusive nature, it is extremely difficult for homeowners to manage a spider infestation without professional help. In fact, many of our current customers opt to use our Prescribed Home Protection Program. This way the spiders, and most other common household pests, are kept where they belong, outside! And homeowners don't have to think twice about it. So contact McCauley Services today to keep spiders out of your home in Little Rock, Fayetteville, Hot Springs and surrounding Arkansas communities.
